Happy Birthday Margot Miller!

Happy Birthday to the sensational and always inspirational Margot Miller! It's hard to put into words what this little lady means to me (especially when I am this tired) but suffice it to say it's a TON! Besides being one of my dearest, closest friends, she's the creative genius behind my most treasured possession... the Hope Yoga Bag which she made using Swarovski crystals and was for sale on ebay. I bid like crazy on it, didn't get it, and when she found out how badly i wanted it... she made me one!
Here she is signing a copy of the Time Out NY that she was featured in for being so crafty.

on the 11th day my husband helped me drill holes into the cow and fit the rough shapes of the wings. Yesterday was day 12 and it was a full day of detail painting... still so much to do! More photos here.

slow but steady progress- still painting in details on the first side and lots, LOTS more work to do! Of course Christina was there to guide me through it all and at the end of the day she helped me stack up my colors and put away my paints.

On the 7th day...

... there was COLOR! Yesterday I blocked in some color on the cow. It's only the beginning stages and the first of many coats. Will keep you posted!

Mooving along

Yesterday was day 6 of working on Cowbella and I had a special visitor to cheer me on... my sister Charlotte! I've made some good progress: both sides of the cow have their shapes attached and I am nearly finished filling in the gaps between the shapes and the surface of the cow. I can't wait to start painting!

Flushing CowParade update

Sorry I've not posted each day that I've been working... I just haven't had the time! As of now, Cowbella has smaller horns (for a softer look), a second coat of pink and many shapes that have been glued to her surface. For more photos of the progress please click on each day below.

The Flushing CowParade

I was invited to make a cow for the Flushing CowParade, an event to further celebrate the Year of the Ox. My cow is called "Cowbella" and she's a cousin of Angelicow who I made back in 2000. Today was the first day of the open studio in the Flushing Mall in Queens and it was wonderful! I met so many people and made a million new little friends. I even had some helpers! Today I painted the cow pink and carved out the shapes that I will adhere to her surface. Tomorrow it's back to the mall to continue the work. If anyone is in the Flushing area and feels like stopping by, please do! I will update my progress each day that I work. Enjoy!
