money, money, money

I made SO much money today!
Well, not the kind you're thinking of.

Here's a work in-progress photo of the sculpture I am making. It's going to be a really fun piece for Texas Monthly. I'll post more about it soon...

art for more than art's sake

Sheffield Hallam University's Contemporary Fine Art students have their final year degree show coming up in May. As part of the fundraising for the show, the Fundraising Team invited me to draw on a plain T-shirt, which will be auctioned to the public.
I started drawing with not much of a plan... and this was the result. (I got my husband to kindly model it for me to show it's cool for guys too!) Hopefully it will help raise some dough for them! The auction will be held in England at the University with a possibility of bids being accepted by email for those who cannot attend. I will keep you posted!

I am a little tied up with work right now so please forgive the silence. I'll post as soon as I can and promise to do an in-depth 'Octo-Mom' post when she appears in the 500th edition of MAD magazine!

For now I just wanted to say how grateful I am to all the people who've written about my work and helped spread it around. Thank you!!! xo

heating or eating?

Here's a shot of the piece I had been working on last week about low income families forced to choose between heating their homes and feeding themselves.

On a much lighter note, I am nearly done with Octo-Mom and can't wait to share that piece with you in the next few days... stay tuned!

"Superstar Sculptures" on Rex Features

Please click on the images to read the full story.

"Meet the woman who made Amy Winehouse - literally. Talented Liz Lomax creates amazing mini sculptures of famous rockers by hand - and has used BRILLO PADS for Amy's hair. Her work has included quirky caricatures of megastar musicians including Keith Richards, Noel Gallagher and Sting. She has even made a mini Michael Jackson dangling a baby...." Story by Dean Murray

Another fun little story about my work in today's London Metro paper. In print it's on page 3. To read a short version of the story online, please click on the link below, thanks!

'eye' am getting closer!

I've finished her eyes now and this is a quick pic of how she's looking. I am so close to finishing this piece and will then start the "Octo-Mom" sculpture that's up next. I promise it will be sick!

nearly done!

She might look like a zombie at the moment but it won't be for long! She just needs some pupils and a cat, then I'll set up the lighting and take the final shot.

Noel celebrates 10,000!!!

Our Noel Gallagher video has now been watched 10,000 times! To celebrate we took Noel outside in the back garden for some fresh air.

It was a very short photo shoot due to the arctic blast that hit us when we walked out the door.
From left: My amazing husband who did all the video editing, Noel, and me.
Another big THANK YOU to all the people who watched it, commented and helped spread it around!

a little further along

Here's an update of the piece I am currently working on. It's about low income families that sometimes have to choose between heating their homes or feeding themselves. This little old lady is standing in her kitchen getting heat from her oven (note the empty shelves). She'll have a coat and earmuffs on... brrrrr.
